In an effort to enhance community safety and engagement, UPA Security has launched the E-Bike Patrol program in Englewood — a forward-thinking approach combining mobility, visibility, and accessibility. E-Bike officers provide a highly mobile security presence able to cover larger areas more efficiently than traditional foot patrols. This mobility allows them to reach locations inaccessible to vehicles, improving response times and neighborhood coverage.
The officers operating these e-bikes are professionally trained, certified by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, and carry certifications in EMS, AED, and crisis de-escalation. This comprehensive training enables them to provide medical support and intervene effectively in conflicts, all while maintaining a friendly and approachable demeanor.
Visibility is a key aspect of the program. High-contrast uniforms and constant patrols serve as a deterrent to crime and a reassurance to residents. The E-Bike Patrol strengthens community ties by offering multiple ways for residents to interact—whether reporting concerns, seeking information, or simply getting to know their local officers.
Aligned with community empowerment initiatives such as SEEDS (Self Empowerment and Economic Developmental System), the program places an emphasis on helping young adults develop intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. This integration mirrors values of nonviolence and holistic development, supporting long-term community transformation beyond immediate safety.
Feedback from residents highlights tangible improvements: reduced crime rates, enhanced property values, and a feeling of renewed neighborhood pride. The UPA E-Bike Patrol exemplifies how innovation in policing tools combined with community respect creates safer and more connected urban neighborhoods.
